Breathing Consciously

Posted on Saturday, April 12th, 2008 at 9:07 pm

Human bodies get energy through eating and breathing. We may think alot about what we eat, we rarely think about how we breathe.

When we get stressed, upset, sick or older our breathing becomes shallow. Toxins increase in our blood, and circulation slows down. Our body feels heavier and our energy is low.

When we have deep and strong breathing, toxins decrease in our blood, adding more oxygen and creating better circulation. Our body feels lighter and full of energy.

When you notice a healthy infant sleeping you see that his abdominal movement is slow, rhythmic and steady. Each breath flows naturally without effort. This is the best, most natural and healthy way to breathe.

This type of breathing helps relax our heart and mind and quiets our nervous system creating a healthy energy balance.

I really enjoyed last night’s class where we focused primarily on breathing in through different areas of our body. As I followed Master BJ’s guidance, I was able to feel the way air flows into, around, and out of my body. Breathing in through my sacrum felt completely different than breathing in though the top of my head. By the end of class I felt so comfortable, especially around my chest through my upper back and shoulders. It felt like a gentle and soothing inner body massage with flowing air.
